On September 26-27, 2011, IFPRI together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MoAFS) and supported by USAID and Irish Aid, held the conference "Unleashing Agriculture's Potential for Improved Health and Nutrition in Malawi" at the Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe, Malawi, that brought together key players on agriculture, nutrition and health to unleash the potential for agriculture – as a supplier of food, a source of income, and an engine of growth – to sustainably reduce malnutrition and ill-health. A major objective of the conference was to identify emerging opportunities and strategies to guide and inform key actors on how to create more synergies between agriculture, nutrition and health. To this aim, a policy note was produced. This note can be found in the conference report, along with summaries of the presentations, speeches, and discussion outcomes of each conference session from "Setting the Stage” through "The Way Forward," and includes photographs of conference activities as well as informative diagrams and text boxes.
Other details about and materials from the conference can be found at the conference website.
