How can we accelerate progress in transforming our agri-food systems to meet the needs of the malnourished and to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030?
To answer this question, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have organized a three-day global event taking place from November 28-30, 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event is aligned with the Compact2025 initiative for ending hunger and undernutrition by 2025 as well as the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition, which aims to achieve existing global targets for nutrition by 2025 and to attain corresponding targets in the Agenda for Sustainable Development by 2030. The event will bring together decision makers, practitioners, researchers, and other stakeholders from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, including representatives from Compact2025’s focal countries: Bangladesh, Malawi, Rwanda and Ethiopia. The event will feature plenary sessions, debates, presentations of evidence-based analysis, and a variety of diverse and interesting side events.
As one of the Compact2025 target countries, Malawi has hosted two national-level Compact2025 events. These events focused on the identification of knowledge gaps and opportunities for accelerating progress to end hunger and undernutrition in Malawi by 2025. The first was a roundtable discussion in May 2016, followed by a high level Compact2025 forum, Moving from Relief to Resilience, in October 2017.
