Under the theme ‘Agriculture Commercialization: Basis for Agri-based Industrialization’, the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development (MoAIWD) held its 16th National Agriculture Fair from September 25-28, 2019 in Blantyre. The Fair was officially opened on September 25 by the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Honourable Kondwani Nankhumwa, MP.
The event drew companies, producer associations, NGOs, development partners, and other agriculture stakeholders from all over the country to present their products, share experiences, and establish relationships. Over the course of four days, 94 exhibitors showcased their products and engaged with visitors.
IFPRI Malawi was represented by a team including Bob Baulch, program leader, Cynthia Kazembe, communications and research assistant, and Edwin Kenamu, research analyst. The IFPRI Malawi booth presented a range of our recent policy and research outputs, videos, and various communications outputs, including our key facts sheets and policy notes as well as IFPRI’s 2019 Global Food Policy Report. Over the course of the Fair, the IFPRI team welcomed approximately 250 visitors at its booth.
