The health and safety of our staff and their families, partners and stakeholders, and local communities is of the utmost importance for IFPRI. With the WHO classifying COVID-19 as a very high human health risk IFPRI is instituting the following guidelines:
Travel Guidelines
- Effective immediately, and until further notice, all non-essential business travel (international and domestic) is suspended. Non-essential travel includes all IFPRI travel except 1) when necessary for health and safety reasons; 2) time-sensitive or critical business continuity matters, or 3) critical funding obligations; and where the exposure risk is deemed to be low, taking into account information and recommendations from WHO, CDC, local embassies, etc. This applies to IFPRI staff and subcontractors in headquarters and field offices.
- Travelers coming from China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Italy, Iran, or Japan, and/or those who have had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, should plan to self-isolate/telecommute for 14 days upon their return.
Event Guidelines
- IFPRI sponsored events will be restricted to those that present minimal risk to IFPRI staff and external participants.
Health Guidelines
- Any staff member with a cold, flu, persistent cough, problems breathing, and/or fever should stay away from work, avoid travel, and seek medical assistance as necessary.
