This price bulletin for livestock and livestock products was developed by researchers at IFPRI Malawi with the goal of providing clear and accurate information on the variation of weekly retail prices of selected agricultural commodities that are important for food security and nutrition in Malawi. The reports are intended as a resource for those interested in agricultural markets in Malawi.
Highlights
- Average retail prices of chicken, eggs and goat meat increased by 15, 2 and 3 percent during April, with chicken prices rising rapidly in the last week of the month.
- Average retail prices of fresh chambo, fresh micheni and fresh usipa increased by 3 to 4 percent while prices for fresh milamba decreased by 1 percent.
- Average retail prices for dried chambo, dried usipa and dried milamba increased by 3 to 7 percent while prices for dried micheni decreased marginally.
