This price bulletin for livestock, livestock products and fish, was developed by researchers at IFPRI Malawi with the goal of providing clear and accurate information on the variation of weekly retail prices of selected agricultural commodities that are important for food security and nutrition in Malawi. The reports are intended as a resource for those interested in agricultural markets in Malawi.
Highlights January 2022
- Average retail prices of chicken and goat decreased by 3 and 5 percent respectively during January 2021 while egg prices increased by 12 percent.
- Average retail prices of fresh chambo, fresh mlamba and fresh micheni decreased by 16 to 47 percent while prices for fresh usipa increased by 14 percent.
- Average retail prices of dried usipa, dried chambo and dried micheni increased by 13 to 42 percent while prices of dried mlamba decreased by 23 percent.
