This price bulletin for livestock, livestock products and fish, was developed by researchers at IFPRI Malawi with the goal of providing clear and accurate information on the variation of weekly retail prices of selected agricultural commodities that are important for food security and nutrition in Malawi. The reports are intended as a resource for those interested in agricultural markets in Malawi.
Highlights March 2022
- Average retail prices of live chicken and egg decreased by 2 and 8 percent respectively while goat meat prices increased by 7 percent during March 2022.
- Average retail prices of fresh micheni and fresh mlamba by increased by 6 to 19 percent respectively, while fresh chambo prices decreased by 18 percent. Fresh usipa prices remained constant.
- Average retail prices of dried chambo, dried micheni and dried mlamba decreased by 8 to 16 percent while dried usipa prices remained constant.
