This price bulletin for selected legumes, roots, tubers, and other cereals was developed by researchers at IFPRI Malawi with the goal of providing clear and accurate information on the variation of weekly retail prices of selected agricultural commodities that are important for food security and nutrition in Malawi. The reports are intended as a resource for those interested in agricultural markets in Malawi.
Highlights March 2022
- Average retail prices of common bean, groundnuts and pigeon peas increased by 2 to 8 percent while soybeans decreased by 3 percent.
- Average retail prices of irish potatoes and sweet potatoes decreased by 12 and 41 percent respectively while cassava prices increased by 20 percent.
- Average retail prices of rice and sorghum decreased by 2 and 6 percent respectively.
