This price bulletin for selected legumes, roots, tubers, and other cereals was developed by researchers at IFPRI Malawi with the goal of providing clear and accurate information on the variation of weekly retail prices of selected agricultural commodities that are important for food security and nutrition in Malawi. The reports are intended as a resource for those interested in agricultural markets in Malawi.
Highlights April 2022
- Average retail prices of common bean, soybeans and pigeon peas decreased by 2 to 18 percent while groundnuts marginally increased by 0.4 percent.
- Average retail prices of cassava and irish potatoes decreased by 1 and 20 percent respectively while sweet potatoes prices increased by 22 percent.
- Average retail prices of rice increased by 5 percent while sorghum retail prices decreased by 4 percent.
