The World Bank Malawi launched the first-ever Malawi Economic Monitor (MEM) Seminar Series on Economic Policy on 29 May 2026 in Lilongwe, creating a new platform for evidence-based dialogue on pressing economic issues. The inaugural seminar featured a presentation by IFPRI on “Does Malawi’s Exchange Rate Regime Keep Prices Low? Evidence and Policy Implications,” contributing research insights to ongoing policy discussions on inflation and exchange rate management.
The event brought together policymakers, researchers, and development partners for a dynamic exchange, including a discussant from the Reserve Bank of Malawi and reflections from the National Planning Commission.
